Thank you to St. Edward Catholic School 5&6 class (Westport, Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario) for a chance to discuss community involvement and Canadian Government. They were a fun group of young people that I hope to visit again! Thanks also to CIVIX Canada for helping to facilitate the meeting.
Important conversation with 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce this morning about the great efforts local businesses and workers are taking to ensure they can safely provide services and goods for our community. It’s our businesses and our workers who are going to lead our economic recovery, and we need to give them the tools and support to do that.February 08, 2021

As a result of COVID-19, many Legion branches across Canada are closed and have faced financial difficulty. The funding announced will help with operational costs such as utilities, facility expenses, and wages.
“Ensuring that veterans and their families have the services and benefits they deserve will always be a priority, and I look forward to continuing the work with our local legions to deliver important services to support and honour our veterans,” added MP Barrett.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 475 Kitley/Toledo, President Mark Stevens:
“Branch 475 Kitley/Toledo is very relieved to receive this much needed financial assistance to weather the pandemic a while longer, so that we can continue our work to support Veterans and remain an important part of our community in the future.”
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 491 Seeley’s Bay, President Rob Fernell:
“The funding through the Veterans Organizations Emergency Relief Fund will keep our doors open during these difficult times and help us continue serving the community. We are thankful for MP Barrett’s assistance in pushing for this funding.”

I joined federal, provincial, and municipal representatives for a presentation and discussion on the expansion of Gig service to 95% of homes in our region. It’s clear that reliable connectivity is essential. But in many places current speeds and service aren’t acceptable. It’s time for the Trudeau Liberals to work with communities and open up broadband funding.January 08, 2021
